1. Education System of Dennis Gabor College

GDF was founded in 1992. Consultation Centers were set up throughout the country and in the neighboring countries with Hungarian minorities, where students were able to study with distance learning.  Full-time education started in 1997. Until now more than 63 thousand students enrolled to the college. For the present date the number of new students seems to be stabilized, approximately annual 2000-2500 heads.

"At GDF distance learning is realized in the form of blended learning and aims at the planned and methodical incorporation of different types of knowledge transfers including tradition classroom education and virtual online training based on ICT (Information and Communication Technology).

The base element of GDF education system is the hard copy curriculum prepared for distance learning, personal consultation and practice amended by the different forms of e-learning services ."

The online courses presentations, self-assessment tests, practices, glossaries, animations and downloadable study-aids, simulations complement, spice up and demonstrate modules and courses.

Exclusively online courses are organized for certain topics or topic segments, though student also receive printed distance learning material.

  • 2002: early challenges in E-learning

  • 2003: experimental E-learning (110 students), professional learning (content) management system (L(C)MS)

  • 2004: full speed running of L(C)MS (started with 2099 students)
